Golfers can discover for themselves when they take the Qualifying School Challenge at PGA Golf de Catalunya, one of Europe’s top rated golf resorts and venue of the 2008 European Tour Q School...
Here’s an opportunity for golfers to test themselves on two of Europe’s top rated golf courses and venue of the 2008 European Tour Qualifying School.
The PGA Golf de Catalunya resort, just an hour’s drive north of Barcelona and within 10 minutes of Barcelona Girona Airport (serviced by Ryanair, BMI and Spanair among other airlines), and 20 minutes from the glorious sandy beaches of the Costa Brava, has launched two play-and-stay packages enabling international golfers to take on the courses that will test Europe’s best up-and-coming golfers at Q School in November 2008.
The Green Course, which previously hosted the Sarazen World Open won by Thomas Bjorn, is Spain’s second highest-ranking course, according to the influential Peugeot Golf Guide, and is one of the most naturally beautiful and enjoyable golfing experiences anywhere in Europe.
Combined with a modern, stylish, luxury hotel, first class facilities and a second, resort-style golf course – The Red Course – which will also be used for Q School, PGA Golf de Catalunya is the one of Europe’s premiere golf resorts and a superb destination for midweek and weekend golf breaks.
Now, with continued expansion at Barcelona Girona Airport, 10 minutes from the resort, and a wide-ranging offering of scheduled flights to and from Barcelona International Airport, 55 minutes’ drive from the resort, golfers from across the UK and Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, France and Italy, can enjoy one of Europe’s finest golf resorts.

Notes for Editors
PGA Golf de Catalunya opened in 1999 and quickly established an international reputation for outstanding quality. The Green Course was designed by European Tour legend Neil Coles and leading Spanish tour professional Angel Gallardo, in association with David Williams and European Golf Design, combining years of experience to create an architectural masterpiece.
The 6,560-metre, par-72 Green Course was considered so good that it was ranked in the Top 10 courses in Europe by Golf World magazine within a year of opening. In the same year, it hosted the Gene Sarazen World Open, won by Thomas Bjorn and, in 2000, the European Tour’s Peugeot Open De Espana.
In 2008, the Green Course received a rating of 18/20 from the influential Peugeot Golf Guide, bettered only in Spain by Valderrama, which consistently ranks as Continental Europe’s best course. Coles and Gallardo also designed the shorter Red Course at PGA Golf de Catalunya, which opened in 2005.
PGA Golf de Catalunya is the venue for the PGA European Tour’s Qualifying School final stage, which takes place from November 13-18, 2008, over both the Green and Red courses.
