Heritage Resorts & Golf Mauritius ranks among Best Golf Resorts in the World
Heritage Resorts & Golf in Mauritius has officially been named among the finest golf destinations in GOLF.com’s newly released Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World.
The recognition underscores a distinct shift in global golf travel. As GOLF noted when unveiling this year’s list, modern golf travellers “aren’t simply reserving tee times. They’re chasing singular experiences” – a philosophy embedded in every facet of the Bel Ombre estate on the island’s pristine south-west coast, part of the UNESCO Man & Biosphere territory.
As the only 45-hole golf destination in the Indian Ocean, Heritage Resorts & Golf combines two DP World Tour-hosting courses and a Leadbetter Golf Academy, elevating Mauritius into one of the world’s most sought-after golfing destinations.
“To be named among GOLF’s Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World is an extraordinary honour for everyone at Heritage Resorts & Golf,” commented Raoul Maurel, COO at Heritage Resorts & Golf.
“We find ourselves in magnificent company alongside iconic destinations steeped in rich golfing history, as well as dynamic new venues making considerable waves on the global stage. This recognition is a testament to the vision and hard work of our team in creating a world-class golf destination in Mauritius.”

A cornerstone of the resort’s growing international accolades is La Réserve Golf Links, which opened to critical acclaim in December 2023. Crowned the Indian Ocean’s No. 1 Course and recently ranked #28 in Golfweek’s Best Top 100 International Courses (outside the US), the region’s first and only contemporary links was co-designed by Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen alongside renowned course architect Peter Matkovich. Playing hand-in-hand with nature, the course offers pure golfing drama with far-reaching ocean views from every hole.
Mindful of its setting alongside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the course transformed former sugar cane fields into rolling, native grasslands that boost local biodiversity – earning its GEO Certified Development status, the global standard for sustainable course design and construction.
When paired with the pristine fairways of the critically acclaimed Le Château Golf Course, luxury accommodation at Heritage Le Telfair, Heritage Awali, and Heritage The Villas, exquisite dining and a plethora of immersive experiences, the 2,500 hectare estate offers an unmatched luxury escape where world-class sport meets conscious living.
