Golf d’Hardelot has appointed Richard Desort as its new Director of Golf, a move he describes as “a dream”.
Desort takes over at the leading French venue, which is located on the north-east coast of France, 40 minutes’ drive from Calais, and has two superb sand-based courses in Les Pins (no. 39 in Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Courses in Continental Europe) and Les Dunes.
Having started his career as a greenkeeper at neighbouring Le Touquet Golf Resort in 1987, Desort has amassed a wealth of experience managing high-quality golf venues.
He spent 20 years at Arras Golf Resort, located in northern France, which hosted the Ladies French Open on the Evian Tour from 2000 to 2009, and most recently was Golf Director at Forêt de Chantilly, to the north of Paris.
“It is a pleasure to join Golf d’Hardelot and work with courses of this quality,” said Desort. “The first time I came here, I was struck by the smell of the pines and the ambience of the place – it reminded me of being on holiday.
“This move is a dream for me. The staff here are highly professional and motivated and the two courses are in fantastic condition – absolutely perfect. They are very different in terms of design, style and layout.
“My vision for Golf d’Hardelot is based on three promises: the quality of the courses, the welcome and the experience. I want people to experience the same feeling I did when I came here for the first time.”
Laurent Boissonnas, CEO of Open Golf Club, which manages Golf d’Hardelot, said: “Richard is an exceptional manager and brings a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge of golf clubs in this region.
“Richard shares our vision for exceptional customer experiences and we look forward to welcoming guests.”
Golf d’Hardelot and its sister destination Le Touquet Golf Resort are both popular with tourists from Britain and northern Europe because of its accessibility and extensive choice of superb courses.
